Managing a grinding plant is far from simple: unsteady performance, low productivity and high energy consumption are frequently occurring problems.

For more than 50 years Industrie Bitossi has been providing alumina grinding media, technical assistance and know-how to its customers located in over 60 countries around the world.

Through the development of innovative grinding charges, aimed to fully optimize the out put and the overall performance of milling department, Industrie Bitossi has always been a step ahead of others, playing a leading role in the milling process of ceramic body, glazes and materials.

1960: First in Europe to introduce alumina linings and grinding media at high density (Alubit 90) to replace silica stones in the glaze grinding with an increase of productivity up to 100%

1970: First to introduce alumina grinding media at high density (Alubit 90) for single firing body grinding to replace silica stones

1980: Development of mixed ball charge alumina and silica stone in order to optimize particular customer demands

1984: First to develop and supply Alubit 90 ball charges for the "gres porcellanato" body grinding

1995: Development of particular Alubit 90 ball charges for discontinuous body grinding reaching significatively increase of production up to 100% with reduction of balls wear rate and energy

1996: First to introduce Alubit 90 ball charges for wet grinding continuous mills.

2000: Sales of grin ding media called Alubit SQ (Super Quality) with a very low wear rate for particular request of low contamination

2001: Development and production of grinding media Alubit Dry for raw material dry grinding

2002: Planning and production of removable linings Alubit 90 linings patented system for refining chambers in wet continuous mills.

2005: A new quality of Alubit 90 grinding media developed for first chambers of wet continuous mills (current quality Alubit Leonardo C)

2007: A new generation of grinding media Alubit Leonardo to meet the new market requirements. This new type of grinding media has an higher density, higher hardness, better grinding efficiency and lower wear rate

2010: A new type of lining for continuous wet mills, composed by Alubit 90 and “L CUBE” rubber, obtained by the vulcanisation of rubber around specifically shaped Alubit 90 bricks, designed and developed in association with SACMI and B&B.

INTERMITTENT WET MILLS, WITH CYLINDRICAL CHAMBER

As this class of Mills is among the most common, or it may be even the biggest for number of installed machines in the ceramic plants, it looks right to start from here.

In addition, among the suggested parameters, although with some restrictions, some of them can also be used for wet continuous mills and dry continuous and discontinuous mills.
